Basketball Recap: Cape Hatteras Falls to Northside - Pinetown in First Game of Season

Cape Hatteras had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 53-43 to the Northside - Pinetown Panthers on Thursday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Leading Northside - Pinetown to victory were Memphis Keech and German Mercado. Keech shot 41% from the field on his way to 21 points and four steals, while Mercado went 7-for-17 en route to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Those 21 points gave Keech a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Bass, who posted three points and three steals.

Cape Hatteras has already played their next contest (against Camden County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Northside - Pinetown, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Mattamuskeet at 7:30 p.m. on December 2.
