Soccer Recap: Apple Valley Starts Season with Draw on the Road

Apple Valley's season-opener on Friday wasn't quite what the team was looking for considering the end result. Neither they nor the Riverside Prep Silver Knights could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 3-3 draw. The outcome might've been different if Gilberto Gutierrez hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

David Esparza and Eduardo Gutierrez scored all three of Apple Valley's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

With that draw, Riverside Prep's record moves to 1-2-2.

Looking ahead, Apple Valley will challenge University Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Riverside Prep, they will take on Oak Hills at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday.
