Volleyball Recap: Richmond Blue Devils vs. Utica Chieftains
Richmond was the 2-0 winner over Utica when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Blue Devils fell 2-0 to the Chieftains on Wednesday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-15.
Utica had a senior duo take command as Claire Ponzio had 17 digs and two assists and Emily Adams had six digs and four aces. Ponzio is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games she's played.
Richmond's defeat dropped their record down to 14-25-5. As for Utica, their record now sits at 13-19-2.
Looking ahead, Richmond will head out on the road to face off against Algonac at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The last four games the Muskrats have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Utica, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Dryden on the 29th.
