Baseball Recap: Barrington Fillies/Broncos vs. Palatine Pirates
There's no place like home for Barrington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Palatine Pirates on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Barrington got a great performance from Will Renshaw as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over 5.2 innings pitched. Renshaw has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Caid Heick was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Juilan Ashley-Friedman, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
