Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Barrington

There's no place like home for Barrington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Palatine Pirates on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Barrington got a great performance from Will Renshaw as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over 5.2 innings pitched. Renshaw has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Caid Heick was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Juilan Ashley-Friedman, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Barrington pushed their record up to 11-4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Palatine, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-5.

Barrington will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
