Volleyball Recap: Abilene Christian Takes a Loss

Abilene Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Hawley Bearcats, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered since November 5, 2024.

While Abilene Christian was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Hawley's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-16, 25-17.

Audrey Rideout paced Abilene Christian's offense, picking up seven kills. Rideout also shared the team's lead in assists with Joshlyn Hancock: they picked up two each.

Abilene Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Hawley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Abilene Christian and Hawley should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 521st) will meet Aspermont (ranked 1102nd) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Hawley will take on Merkel at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (474 vs. 957).
