Football Recap: Warren Comes Up Short

Warren played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Harlan Hawks, falling 49-7. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.

Harlan had a senior duo take command as Aldric Trotter threw for 243 yards and six touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes and Xavier Smith picked up 138 receiving yards and four scores. Those 138 receiving yards set a new season-high mark for Smith.

This is the second loss in a row for Warren and nudges their season record down to 5-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-3 Sotomayor (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 83.3% over those games). As for Harlan, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Coming up, Warren will head out to face off against Brennan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' defense has only allowed 11.1 points per game this season, so the Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Harlan, they will be playing at home against Sotomayor at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks will need to watch out since the WILDCATS have now posted at least 31 points in their last six contests.
