Football Game Preview: Lake Braddock Bruins vs. West Springfield Spartans

Lake Braddock has gone 9-1 against West Springfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Bruins are taking a road trip to square off against the Spartans at 1:00 p.m. Lake Braddock knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully West Springfield likes a good challenge.

Lake Braddock is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 33-24 win over South County.

Tyrone Jackson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 183 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Those 183 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Samuel Rhye, who rushed for 92 yards and one score.

Meanwhile, West Springfield had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.1 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They blew past the Lions 28-7. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 20 points or more this season.

West Springfield's win came from a few key players Lake Braddock will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Scott Lewis, who threw for 150 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes, and also rushed for 51 yards and one TD on only six carries. Samuel Heredia was Lewis' top target, picking up 50 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Lake Braddock's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for West Springfield, their win bumped their record up to an identical 10-2.

Saturday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Jackson and Lewis. Jackson just won't slow down this season and has averaged 179 passing yards per game. Lewis has been a dominant force too and has thrown 27 touchdowns while averaging 174.3 passing yards per game.

Lake Braddock couldn't quite finish off West Springfield when the teams last played on November 7th and fell 34-31. Can the Bruins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
