Basketball Recap: Richlands Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Richlands had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 37-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the White Oak Vikings on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 13 in a row.

White Oak found their leader in sophomore Sidney Ferguson, who posted 19 points in addition to six boards and five steals. Aariel Jemison was another key player, putting up 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Richlands wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-35 victory against Southwest Onslow on the 20th. As for White Oak, they have also already played their next game, a 61-32 loss against James Kenan on the 20th.
