Preview: Wenonah Dragons vs. John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers
Wenonah is 8-0 against John Carroll Catholic since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Wenonah Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Wenonah can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past Fairfield 58-37. Winning may never get old, but Wenonah sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Samarian Franklin was her usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with eight assists and seven steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Wenonah's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakerria Ringstaff, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, John Carroll Catholic strolled past Leeds with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 49-33. Given John Carroll Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Leeds is ranked 375th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wenonah has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for John Carroll Catholic, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.
Wenonah came out on top in a nail-biter against John Carroll Catholic in their previous meeting on January 6th, sneaking past 52-49. Will Wenonah repeat their success, or does John Carroll Catholic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
