Volleyball Recap: Northwest Takes a Loss

Northwest entered their match against Aurora on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Vikings took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies. Vikings fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Huskies since Tuesday.

Northwest started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-23.

Ava Janulewicz paced Northwest's offense, picking up 15 kills. Janulewicz got some help from Kenna Bowman and her 36 assists. Bowman was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Among those leading the charge was Paityn Wyatt, who had seven digs and three aces. Those three aces gave her a new career-high.

Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Aurora, their record now sits at 12-7.

Northwest has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Kearney Catholic on the 25th. As for Aurora, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Central City on the 25th.
