Clark and Madison are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Cougars will welcome the Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clark is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Clark fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Churchill on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 11-10. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Natalie Bautista was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched 8.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off 12 hits.

On the hitting side, Clark got a massive performance out of Madyson Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Heaven Villarreal was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Madison had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Rattlers by a score of 4-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 5, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Mia Zamora spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tori Gonzales, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Madison's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Clark, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.
