Flag Football Game Preview: Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots vs. Mission Bay Buccaneers

Two dominant signal callers in Sammy Gehler and Mia Siqueiros are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots are taking a road trip to take on the Mission Bay Buccaneers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Academy of Our Lady of Peace will be strutting in after a win while Mission Bay will be coming in after a defeat.

Academy of Our Lady of Peace is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 39-27 victory over Cathedral Catholic on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Pilots' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Dons are ranked 56th).

Meanwhile, Mission Bay was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 12-6 to Mira Mesa. The Buccaneers haven't had much luck with the Marauders recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Academy of Our Lady of Peace has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.3 points over those games. As for Mission Bay, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10-1.

Academy of Our Lady of Peace didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mission Bay in their previous matchup back in September, but they still walked away with a 31-27 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Siqueiros, who rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 239 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75.8% of her passes. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Pilots still be able to contain Siqueiros? There's only one way to find out.
