Baseball Recap: Walsh Jesuit Takes Down Lakewood in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Walsh Jesuit had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lakewood Rangers a 7-0 shutout on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Harper Lann looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Carlos Smith was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Matthew Mansbery was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Walsh Jesuit's record is now 17-7-1. As for Lakewood, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 21-6 record.

Coming up, Walsh Jesuit will challenge Anthony Wayne at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Generals will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. Lakewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
