Basketball Game Preview: Pewitt Brahmas vs. Rivercrest Rebels

The Pewitt Brahmas will venture away from home to face off against the Rivercrest Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Pewitt has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 3.

Pewitt is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Bowie on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Pewitt lost 47-26 to Bowie. While losing is never fun, the Brahmas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1459th, while the Pirates are ranked 668th).

Meanwhile, Rivercrest came up short against Detroit on Tuesday and fell 48-35. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pewitt's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Rivercrest, their loss dropped their record down to 9-20.

Things could have been worse for Pewitt, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-22 loss to Rivercrest when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Pewitt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
