Football Game Preview: Cheraw Braves vs. Chesterfield Golden Rams + How To Watch

Cheraw has gone 8-2 against Chesterfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Braves will look to defend their home field against the Golden Rams at 7:30 p.m. Cheraw is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 27.8 points per game this season.

Cheraw is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Buford to the tune of 51-21 on Friday. With the Braves ahead 44-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Kadin Thomas was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 151 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 47 yards and one TD. His passing game has become a key predictor of Cheraw's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise. The Braves' leading receiver Derrick Isaac was Thomas' top target yet again, picking up 46 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cheraw was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 212 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 42.5 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matchups they've averaged 168.7.

Cheraw didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Demaurice James and Austin Adams. Adams has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last five times he's played.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Chesterfield's offense. They were dealt a 40-0 loss at the hands of Central on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 45 points in the game before, the Golden Rams' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Cheraw now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Chesterfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Cheraw against Chesterfield in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 45-7 victory. In that contest, the Braves amassed a halftime lead of 24-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
