Baseball Recap: Silver Creek Snags Tenth Win in Last 11 Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Aptos, Silver Creek was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the James Lick Comets as they made off with a 23-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Michael Fonseca made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Fonseca was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Silver Creek got a massive performance out of Giovanni Mejia, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Mejia has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert 'Bobby' Resendez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Silver Creek is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for James Lick, their loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-14.

Looking ahead, Silver Creek will be playing in front of their home fans against More at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. James Lick does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
