Football Recap: China Spring Comes Up Short

China Spring lost against Gatesville back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars lost 27-7 to the Hornets. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

A big part of Gatesville's victory came down to the chemistry between Gehrig Keeton and his top target Amos Phillips. Keeton threw for 264 yards and three TDs while completing 84.2% of his passes while Phillips picked up 121 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. That's the most passing yards Keeton has posted since back in August.

China Spring's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Gatesville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.

China Spring didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 49-47 victory against Lorena on the 31st. As for Gatesville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 35-14 defeat against Robinson on the 31st.
