Basketball Recap: Tradition Prep Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Tradition Prep proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 35) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 52-51 victory over the Port St. Lucie Jaguars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since January 7th.

Tradition Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aydan Fields out in front who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 18 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ethan Chevres, who posted 21 points and three blocks.

When it comes to explaining why Port St. Lucie lost, don't look at Daniel Alexis. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 23 points and 14 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Desgrottes, who scored nine points.

The win (which was Tradition Prep's sixth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points over those games. As for Port St. Lucie, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Tradition Prep will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Central at 6:00 p.m. on December 3. As for Port St. Lucie, they will welcome Sebastian River at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup will give the Jaguars their first taste of in-conference action this season.
