Football Game Preview: East Vikings vs. Oxford Hornets

East is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They are taking a road trip to face off against the Oxford Hornets at 7:00 p.m. East has given up an average of 25.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

East is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Downingtown East on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Vikings came up short against the Cougars, falling 51-26. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 23-0.

East's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Chase Golden, who picked up 256 receiving yards and two scores, and Logan Cummings, who threw for 370 yards and three touchdowns. Golden's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Oxford and Unionville have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Hornets took a hard 49-33 fall against the Longhorns. The Hornets have struggled against the Longhorns recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

East's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Oxford, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

East couldn't quite get it done against Oxford in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 21-14. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
