Softball Recap: Hempstead Bobcats vs. Boling Bulldogs
If Hempstead was feeling good off their 11-4 takedown of Hitchcock last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hempstead Bobcats took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boling Bulldogs on Tuesday. Hempstead was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Boling apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March.
Marissa Apodaca was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned run off two hits. Apodaca was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Apodaca wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Marriah Trujillo, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Hempstead has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Boling, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10.
Hempstead will take on Brazos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Boling does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
