Baseball Game Preview: Floyd Central Jaguars vs. Knox Central Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Floyd Central Jaguars face off against Knox Central Panthers at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Floyd Central is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Floyd Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jace Martin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Martin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, Knox Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against West Geauga on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 6-5. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolverines 4-0 in the first period.

Zack Carrol was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Austin Bargo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Hayden Melton, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Floyd Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Knox Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
