Football Game Preview: Denver East Angels vs. Denver South Ravens

Denver East is on a seven-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Denver South a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Denver East Angels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Denver South Ravens at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Denver East is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Ralston Valley on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Angels had to suffer through a 48-7 loss at the hands of the Mustangs. The Angels were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.

Despite their defeat, Denver East saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Declan Macdonald, who threw for 267 yards and one TD, was perhaps the best of all. 115 of those passing yards were hauled in by Cazhjuan Campbell.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 41-7, which was the final score in Denver South's tilt against Columbine on Friday. The Ravens were down 41-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Denver South's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Denver East, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Everything went Denver East's way against Denver South in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Denver East made off with a 33-8 win. Will the Angels repeat their success, or do the Ravens have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
