Basketball Recap: Battery Creek Takes a Loss

Battery Creek was the 41-40 winner over Whale Branch when they last played one another last Friday, but their luck changed this time around. The Battery Creek Dolphins took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Whale Branch Warriors. The Dolphins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Battery Creek lost on Friday, don't look at Quannazia Jones. Despite the final result, she posted 18 points.

Even though they lost, Battery Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Whale Branch found their leader in sophomore Harmony Prejean, who put up 29 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Prejean has scored at least a third of Whale Branch's points.

Battery Creek now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Whale Branch, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.

Battery Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-28 defeat against Beaufort on the 14th. As for Whale Branch, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 38-34 win against Bluffton on the 14th.
