Gray Collegiate Academy came tearing into Wednesday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the South Aiken Thoroughbreds 11-5. With that victory, the War Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

JP Sweatt and Chase Starkey were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Sweatt tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Starkey pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sweatt has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Sweatt went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Starkey went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Those three RBI gave Sweatt a new career-high.

In other batting news, MJ Hornsby and Garrett Blankenship did most of the damage at the plate: Hornsby got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Blankenship went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Blankenship a new career-high. Player #25 was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Gray Collegiate Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Gray Collegiate Academy's record is now 11-3. As for South Aiken, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
