Football Recap: Klein Falls Short of Cypress Ranch in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Klein can now relate to. They lost to the Cypress Ranch Mustangs on the road by a 40-24 margin on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Bearkats have lost by exactly 16 points.

Cypress Ranch was led to victory by Peyton Thomas and Braden Baker. Thomas gained 176 total yards and two touchdowns, while Baker threw for 216 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.5% of his passes. What's more, Thomas posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Cypress Ranch's leading receiver Manny Leyja was Baker's top target yet again, picking up 89 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Klein has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Cypress Ranch, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2.

Klein does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cypress Ranch, they will take on Grand Oaks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 906 yards in their previous games.
