Baseball Game Preview: McMinn County Cherokees vs. Fleming Island Golden Eagles

The McMinn County Cherokees will face off against the Fleming Island Golden Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

McMinn County is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Chiles just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Timberwolves. The matchup marked the Cherokees' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Fleming Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Knoxville Central, falling 11-4.

Caden Swartz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Huber, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Fleming Island's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for McMinn County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

McMinn County couldn't quite get it done against Fleming Island when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can McMinn County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
