Softball Recap: Hillgrove's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

After flying high against McEachern on Thursday, Hillgrove came back down to earth. The Hawks took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brookwood Broncos on Saturday. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Hillgrove's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10. As for Brookwood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.

Hillgrove will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Paulding County at 5:00 p.m. on the 30th. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Brookwood, they are taking a road trip to square off against Parkview at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
