Softball Recap: West Caldwell Wins Going Away Against East Burke

After only one run in their last match, West Caldwell made sure to put some runs up on the board against East Burke on Tuesday. The Warriors blew past the Cavaliers 14-3. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won seven in a row.

Abby Bowman spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, West Caldwell got a massive performance out of Courtney Hartley, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave Hartley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Slater, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Hartley wasn't the only one making solid contact: West Caldwell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

West Caldwell pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for East Burke, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.

West Caldwell will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cavaliers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
