Softball Game Preview: Almond-Bancroft Eagles vs. Ripon Tigers

The Almond-Bancroft Eagles will challenge the Ripon Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Almond-Bancroft has 12 straight wins, Ripon has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Almond-Bancroft's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Rosholt. Considering the Eagles have won 12 matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sophia Chapa was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Riya Ceballos, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Almond-Bancroft hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rosholt struck out seven times.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Ripon nor Notre Dame Academy made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Tigers fell just short of the Tritons by a score of 4-2. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly two runs.

Ripon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Kwakkel, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Ripon's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Almond-Bancroft, their victory bumped their record up to 18-1.

Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Almond-Bancroft hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Ripon struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
