Softball Game Preview: Lawrence North Wildcats vs. North Central Panthers

Lawrence North has gone 9-1 against North Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wildcats will take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lawrence North is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Indianapolis Arsenal Technical get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

The team relied heavily on Victoria Guyse, who fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Ginger Strelow also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Lawrence North always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, North Central got the win against Warren Central on Tuesday by a conclusive 15-5. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Kaelee Jacobs made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Samantha Saalfrank was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Stevens, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Lawrence North's record is now 12-15. As for North Central, their record now sits at 7-13-1.

Lawrence North took their victory against North Central when the teams last played on May 1st by a conclusive 15-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
