Baseball Game Preview: Paraclete Spirits vs. Serra Cavaliers

For the first time this season, Paraclete will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Friday. They will welcome the Serra Cavaliers at 3:15 p.m. The timing is sure in Paraclete's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Serra has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Paraclete came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 15-1 to West Ranch. The contest marked the Spirits' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Paraclete saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Armando Saucedo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Saucedo is on a roll when it comes to triples, as he's now hit at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

While Serra didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Rolling Hills Prep on Wednesday as Serra made off with a 12-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won three games by six runs or more so far this season.

Paraclete's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Serra, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Everything went Paraclete's way against Serra when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Paraclete made off with a 9-1 win. Will Paraclete repeat their success, or does Serra have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
