Football Game Preview: Bonny Eagle Scots vs. Thornton Academy Trojans

Bonny Eagle is 1-9 against Thornton Academy since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Scots will host the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Thornton Academy will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Bonny Eagle extended their winning streak to seven on Friday. The Scots took their matchup with ease, bagging a 57-21 win over Massabesic. With the Scots ahead 36-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.

It was another big night for Colin Moran, who rushed for 82 yards and two TDs on only ten carries, and also threw for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 passes. Drew Gervais got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thornton Academy). They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Sanford 56-13. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Trojans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Maine football rankings (they are ranked first, while the Spartans are ranked 27th).

Thornton Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Bonny Eagle, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
