Football Recap: Armstrong River Hawks vs. Highlands Golden Rams
Armstrong had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They slipped by the Highlands Golden Rams 38-37. The win was some much needed relief for the River Hawks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Jaydon Oliver and his top target Kyan Kline. Oliver threw for 270 yards and three touchdowns while Kline picked up 130 receiving yards and a touchdown. Kline was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 62 yards. Chase Jablonski did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 91 receiving yards.
Armstrong didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mason Sanders and Kline.
Armstrong will square off against Hampton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Highlands, they will challenge Elizabeth Forward at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
