Volleyball Recap: El Camino Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when El Camino took on Elsinore on Saturday. The El Camino Wildcats fell just short of the Elsinore Tigers by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

John Ritz paced El Camino's offense, picking up 12 kills. Ritz got some help from Nathanael Scharff and his 17 assists. Finally, Ethaniel Smith kept El Camino's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Elsinore's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaiah Word, who had 22 assists. Brandon Boatman Firmes also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

El Camino's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Elsinore, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

El Camino has already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Santa Fe Christian on the 15th. As for Elsinore, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Clairemont on the 15th.
