Volleyball Game Preview: Cobden Appleknockers vs. Trico Pioneers

Cobden hasn't had much luck against Trico recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Appleknockers will challenge the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cobden is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Carrier Mills-Stonefort 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Appleknockers.

Cobden had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-22, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Trico earned a 2-0 win over Century on Wednesday.

Trico's victory bumped their record up to 30-6. As for Cobden, the win got them back to even at 16-16.

Cobden couldn't quite get it done against Trico when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Appleknockers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
