Basketball Game Preview: Oaks Christian Lions vs. Valencia Vikings

The Oaks Christian Lions will take on the Valencia Vikings in a holiday battle at at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Oaks Christian will be strutting in after a win while Valencia will be coming in after a defeat.

Valencia is hoping to do what Corona del Mar couldn't on Saturday: put an end to Oaks Christian's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Oaks Christian had just enough and edged Corona del Mar out 46-44. The 46-point effort marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Valencia's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were dealt an 81-40 loss at the hands of Heritage Christian. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 390th, while the Warriors are ranked tenth).

Oaks Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Valencia, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Oaks Christian ended up a good deal behind Valencia when the teams last played back in November of 2019, losing 80-63. Can Oaks Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
