Softball Recap: Sidney Wins Going Away Against Walton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sidney). They put the hurt on the Walton Warriors with a sharp 19-2 victory on Wednesday. The Team haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Teagan Stanton-Helms was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Stanton-Helms was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Sidney got a massive performance out of Emily Russo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Kate Young was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Sidney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .528. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .371 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Sidney's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Walton, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Sidney will square off against rival Bainbridge-Guilford at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Walton is set to face off against their familiar foe Harpursville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
