The Chaparral Firebirds will head out to square off against the Campo Verde Coyotes at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Chaparral sitting on three straight victories and Campo Verde on 18.
Chaparral is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 24-17 win over Buena. That's two games straight that the Firebirds have won by exactly seven points.

Chaparral found their leader in sophomore Kendyll Dinh, who picked up 163 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Those 163 receiving yards set a new season-high mark for Dinh.
Chaparral didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Sophia Marlow, Kaelie Weishaar, and Dinh picked up one apiece. Dinh has been hot recently, having also posted two or more receiving touchdowns the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, Campo Verde's rock-solid defense showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Arizona College Prep a 62-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Coyotes, who have now won 16 contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Chaparral better keep an eye on Amaya Moreno. She was instrumental in Campo Verde's win, throwing for 158 yards and five TDs while completing 86.7% of her passes, and also rushing for 69 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. Claire McMahon was another key player, picking up 84 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
One reason for the win was Campo Verde's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Payton Davis with two. Brooklyn Lucchesi got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Chaparral's record now sits at 13-2. As for Campo Verde, their record is now 18-1.
Chaparral was dealt a bruising 42-6 defeat at the hands of Campo Verde in their previous meeting two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Moreno, who threw for 283 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 115 yards and one score on only nine carries.
