While Peninsula didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out the El Segundo Eagles 2-0. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Aaron Monzon, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Peninsula's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-4. As for El Segundo, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1-1.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Peninsula Panthers duke it out with Lawndale Cardinals at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lawndale will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Peninsula surely won't give up without a fight. As for El Segundo, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against La Habra on the 22nd.
