Basketball Recap: Durand's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of six wins, Durand's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saginaw United.

Durand's loss came despite strong showings from Taylor Carlson and Raine Smith. Carlson posted six points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Smith went 7-for-15 on her way to 17 points. That's the most steals Carlson has posted since back in December of 2024. Izabell Konesny was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Even though they lost, Durand smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Durand's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Saginaw United, their victory bumped their record up to 5-12.

Durand didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-45 loss against Caro on the 24th. As for Saginaw United, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-5 win against Bentley on the 24th.
