Volleyball Recap: Newton North Takes Down Ranked Needham

Newton North faced Needham in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Tigers came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 3-1. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three matches in a row.

While Newton North might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Needham scored at least 20 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21.

Newton North can attribute much of their success to Player #9, who had nine digs and one assist.

Newton North was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last five matchups.

Needham's loss came despite strong showings from Arianna Tu and Raleigh Dellamarggio. Tu had 12 digs and three aces, while Dellamarggio had 20 assists and five digs.

Newton North's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Needham, their loss ended a 13-match streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-2.

Newton North wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Wellesley on the 16th. As for Needham, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Weymouth on the 16th.
