Basketball Recap: Stevens Takes a Loss

Stevens came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against the Johnson Jaguars, falling 65-15. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Andra Stokes was Stevens' leading scorer, having posted eight points. Alyssia Murphy held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

Johnson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mackenzie Donald led the charge by going 6-for-11 en route to 12 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. Donald is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Latisha Ornelas, who made all 5 shots she took to post 12 points and three steals.

Stevens' defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Johnson, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Stevens will challenge Alexander at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. As for Johnson, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Davenport at 6:30 p.m. on December 2.
