Softball Recap: Academy for Classical Education Wins Going Away Against Dodge County

Academy for Classical Education's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Dodge County Indians with a sharp 10-2 win. The Gryphons haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Giselle Giles spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Academy for Classical Education let Sophie Denney and Avery Stone run wild. Denney went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Stone got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Reese Thames, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The win got Academy for Classical Education back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy for Classical Education will face off against Veterans at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Dodge County, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Bleckley County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
