Softball Recap: Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Wins Going Away Against Lake Catholic

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gilmour Academy, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Lake Catholic Cougars. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lions' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Alex Mould made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That hit was her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Wooke, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Sadie Wurm also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

With the victory, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3. As for Lake Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin will head out to challenge Beaumont School at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions are facing the Blue Streaks at the right time seeing as the Blue Streaks are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lake Catholic, they will venture away from home to face off against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Royals will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
