Basketball Recap: Dixon Falls Despite Big Games from Jordin Callen and Madison Wartson

Dixon managed to keep up with Fairfield until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Dixon Rams came up short against the Fairfield Falcons, falling 59-36. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 52-40 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.

Madison Wartson and Jordin Callen certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Wartson went 6 for 9 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks, while Callen posted nine points and five steals. What's more, Callen also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in January.

Fairfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayana Mickey out in front who went 5 of 11 on her way to 17 points and six steals. Another player making a difference was Natalie Chavez, who put up ten points and six steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Dixon fell to 2-1. As for Fairfield, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Dixon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-22 defeat against Pierce on the 10th. As for Fairfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-44 loss against Monterey Trail on the 10th.
