Tampa Bay Tech hasn't had much luck against Plant City recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Titans will venture away from home to square off against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Tampa Bay Tech came out on top against Brandon on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fourth inning. The Titans were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.
Jaida T was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn M, who went 2-for-4 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tampa Bay Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plant City). They never let King get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Thursday. The win was nothing new for the Raiders as they're now sitting on five straight.
Kayleigh Gibbs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other pitching news, Kyleigh Gibbs looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Plant City got a massive performance out of Samantha Raines, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Peytan Benjamin, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs.
Plant City's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Tampa Bay Tech, their record now sits at 10-6.
Both Tampa Bay Tech and Plant City just can't seem to miss. The Titans have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Plant City struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tampa Bay Tech suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Plant City in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
