Softball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mountain View can now relate to. They fell just short of the Timpanogos Timberwolves by a score of 5-4 on Friday. The Bruins' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Camille Stoddard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sophie Stoddard was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Timpanogos, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-9.

While Mountain View had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
