Basketball Game Preview: Lennard Longhorns vs. Sumner Stingrays

Lennard is 0-5 against Sumner since January of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lennard Longhorns will square off against the Sumner Stingrays at 8:00 p.m.

On Friday, Lennard was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-46 to Newsome. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 445th, while the Wolves are ranked 68th).

Meanwhile, Sumner can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 71-52 win over Bloomingdale.

Sumner's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Lennard, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8.

Lennard suffered a grim 56-33 defeat to Sumner in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Lennard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
