Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

Central is still winless after their match against Penns Valley Area on Wednesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They fell just short of the Penns Valley Area Rams by a score of 43-40. The Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Penns Valley Area's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elle Dinges, who posted 15 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Dinges has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Johnson, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 11 points along with six boards and five blocks.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Penns Valley Area, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will host Bellefonte at 6:30 p.m. on December 18th. As for Penns Valley Area, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Huntingdon at 6:30 p.m. Penns Valley Area is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season.
