Garces Memorial and Bakersfield Christian are an even 4-4 against one another since August of 2016, but not for long. The Rams will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Garces Memorial is headed into Thursday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They took a hard 42-27 fall against Liberty on Friday. Despite 138 more yards than the Patriots, the Rams couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite their defeat, Garces Memorial saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mark Gomez, who threw for 465 yards and two TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground, was perhaps the best of all. The Rams' leading receiver Braxton Sherley was Gomez's top target yet again, picking up 105 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Bakersfield Christian strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against Independence by a score of 24-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Falcons are ranked 210th).

Bakersfield Christian's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Garces Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Garces Memorial was taken down by Bakersfield Christian 55-13 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Rams were down 35-7.
